I'm a new resident to Mississippi and new contributor to MSPN. (Formerly moderator of Ohio Preppers.) I thought I'd look around and see what my "neighbors" were up to. Your situation is a drag. Across the Preppers Network there's been a lot of discussion about what to do in a hypothetical, nope, in YOUR situation. In no way am I telling you what to do, you do what's best for you. But if it were me, I'd put my foot down, hard. Your son and his son moved into your castle, and helped themselves to your bounty. Is he paying rent? Is he employed? Either way-- again in my opinion-- you were working toward self-reliance. Sounds like he needs to be doing this too, rather than derailing your train. I'd start with the garden. If your wife is spending time caring for the grandbaby (who wouldn't?) can your son spend 1-2 hours on the weekends doing the end of season garden clean-up? Raking and composting leaves, etc? Seems like a fair trade to me. He'd maybe learn something about what's involved with gardening, and you'd get the garden prepped for winter or early spring crops.
